I am 86 years old. I started playing bridge in the late 50s while in college at Newark College of Engineering. I eventually became the captain of our college bridge team. During those years, I developed a partnership with a fellow student, Oyar Miller. ( You can use his name if you so desire). After graduation, he went into the service and I eventually got married and drifted away from the game. At my 50th reunion, I was able to reunite with my old bridge partner and we started playing on BBO. since he lived in Fla and I lived in NJ.
Back in the 50s and 60s if you won a local duplicate with 12–13 tables, you were awarded some fraction of a master point. So it took a boatload of wins to accumulate any reasonable number of master points. And there were only one kind !
My old partner and I have a strong personal relationship as well as a reasonably strong bridge partnership. At this time, we play 4 games a week and frequently recall those days back in school. when our team won the Newark Industrial League championship.
